Buxton sink GDF 2-1 in STAG Elite clash

THE Guyana Football Federation (GFF) STAG Elite League had two consecutive days of double-headers at the Guyana Defence Force ground, Camp Ayanganna.In the first match, Fruta Conquerors squared off against Monedderlust and won 1-0 with Jermaine Junor scoring the lone goal.
The match that followed saw the home team GDF suffer a 1-2 defeat at the hands of the Buxtonians. Buxton drew first blood when Delon Wright scored in the 23rd minute and they maintained that lead until the half.
When play resumed, Buxton stuck another one in, four minutes in the second, to leave the army side in disbelief, However, the army pulled one back in the 68th minute, compliments of Delon Fraser but it was not enough to do the job.
Meanwhile, last night the action continued again at the GDF ground with Slingerz FC and Georgetown Football Club (GFC) in the curtain-raiser. This was the second meeting between the two sides, the first of which ended in a nil-all draw.
Following that, Pele were scheduled to face off against Alpha United in the feature. When the two sides met on September 23, ninety minutes of play could not separate them as the match ended 2-2.
The action moves to Tucville ground this Saturday with two matches, as GFC take on Buxton and Monedderlust battle Slingerz FC.
