MSC, TSC bag victories in NBS second division cricket … Century for Nikosie Barker

MALTEENOES Sports Club (MSC) and Transport Sport Club (TSC) were in winners’ row over the weekend when they defeated Ace Warriors and Sophia in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) NBS Second Division 40-over tournament.Batting first, MSC posted 264 all out in their allotted overs then wrapped up Ace Warriors for 66 runs in 11 overs.
Nikosie Barker steered MSC to a comprehensive 198-run win with a knock of 103.
His innings was laced with 14 boundaries and two maximums while Orin Forde supported at the other end with a sturdy 37 that included four fours.
Kareem Naughton pitched in with 29 while Raja Aaron grabbed 4-53 for the opposition. Warriors had a tough time in replying as medium pacer Jamal McKenzie 5-23 and Steven Sankar 2-4 were unplayable.
In the other match at GNIC ground, Sophia lost by six wickets after posting 161 all out in 31.5 overs. R. Dataram top-scored with 51 while N. George and A. Persaud chipped in the 28 and 18 respectively.
Joshua Wilson captured 3-19, Junior Duncan 3-42 and Kevin Ross 2-24. TSC responded with 162-4 in 19.1 overs. Shemroy Kendall led the chase with an even half-century while Devaughn Nandan hit 24 not out and Keon Morris 20.
The competition continues this weekend.
