COUNCILLOR Julian Cummings has commended Region Two Chairman Mr Devanand Ramdatt for his “walk about” and interaction with residents of Charity.Speaking at this month’s statutory meeting of the Region 2 Democratic Council, held in the Regional Boardroom at Anna Regina, Mr Cummings said he is pleased with the Chairman’s visit, and the way he walked around Charity, meeting with residents, discussing their problems, and finding immediate solutions.
Responding, the Chairman said his intention is to continue reaching out to people on the ground. He said he cannot sit in his office at Anna Regina and solve problems that are affecting people in their villages; he has to be on the ground, so immediate actions can be taken.
The Chairman also disclosed that an itinerary will be developed for a series of face-the-community meetings across the Region over the coming weeks. He assured Councillors that the itinerary will be available to them at the next RDC meeting in September.
Mr Ramdatt and Vice Chairlady Ms Nandranie Coonjah have already met with hundreds of residents at face-the-community meetings at Lima Sands, Golden Fleece Estate, and Good Hope.
