Guyana gearing to introduce competitive archery here

THE Guyana Sport Shooting Federation (GSSF) is about to introduce Archery as a sport to these shores, tagged Archery Guyana, and here to help is internationally acclaimed coach and archer, Diego Torres of Columbia. The venture reportedly has the blessings of the Ministry of Education’s Department of Culture, Youth and Sport, as well as the sport’s Switzerland-based governing body, World Archery Americas.
According to a release from the Ministry of Education, Torres’s role is primarily to help coordinate and conduct seminars pertaining to the development of archery as a sport.
With Torres’s arrival, members of GSSF, Vidushi Persaud and Ryan McKinnon yesterday paid a courtesy call on Minister within the Ministry of Education Nicolette Henry, at her Main Street office, to bring her up to speed on what is happening with the venture.
