NO arrest has as yet been made following the brutal hacking death of well-known city restauranteur Zhenjz Su, who operated Jade Stone Chinese Restaurant, popularly known as ‘Black Chiney Restaurant’, but sleuths are reviewing footage from surveillance cameras which may have captured the approximate 03:00 hrs incident on August 7, 2015.

Su was murdered in his home during that Friday incident which appeared to be an armed robbery. He was tortured and chopped several times.

His wife, Fei Su, 32, was severely beaten, mostly in the face, and has consequently lost some teeth. She endured this humiliation in the presence of her two children, who were unharmed during the ordeal, orchestrated by persons who are familiar with the couple and their business, since their dogs did not bark to alert neighbours that intruders had managed to enter the premises. She remains hospitalised.

The home of Su, which houses his business on the lower flat, was invaded by several robbers, who first beat his sleeping wife. Afterwards, they took him to the kitchen, where he was also beaten, chopped, bound, gagged and left for dead.

The armed bandits demanded money, and they took away an undisclosed amount of cash from the Mandela Avenue, Ruimveldt, Georgetown residence.

After the robbers had departed, Fei Su went in search of her husband, whom she found lifeless on the kitchen floor with chop wounds to his head. His feet were tied and his mouth gagged.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told this publication on Friday that no arrests have yet been made, but sleuths have re-visited the crime scene and are doing some work.

From all accounts, the bandits spent considerable time inside the premises assaulting the couple separately before they escaped with the loot.

The couple had been operating the business for some time now, and had become friends with their customers even as the business place had become a popular ‘liming’ spot for many.
