SOUTHPAW Shawn `The Heat’ Garnett is a Guyanese junior middleweight boxer who plied his trade out of Canada. He had his last professional bout on June 26, 2009. Garnett came up against an undefeated Austin Trout, another southpaw, and lost by unanimous decision when the eight-rounder ended.Trout went on to win the World Boxing Association junior middleweight title in February 2011 and is still active today. Garnett snatched the World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino junior middleweight crown in March 2003.
His career started in November 1998 when he defeated Charles Clarke in Maryland, USA, and ran for 11 years. Garnett participated in 19 bouts, one of which was held in Guyana. He boxed a total of 116 rounds and secured 11 victories, six losses, two draws.
