Alberttown resident on ganja possession charge

A MAN was on Friday charged for possession of marijuana and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.Rayon Cameron pleaded guilty to the charge which alleged that on Friday, June 19,2015 at Georgetown, he had one gram of cannabis in his possession.
Cameron, who was unrepresented by counsel, explained that he lives with his fiancée at First Street, Alberttown, Georgetown. However on the day in question, when he came home he found the house ransacked and the suspected drug on his television set. The magistrate then entered a not- guilty plea based on the man’s explanation.
Bail was granted in the sum of $3,000 and the matter was transferred to Magistrate Annett Singh for Tuesday,June 23,2015.
