Police, Fire Service probe arson attempt at Govt. ministry

THE Guyana Fire Service and ranks of the Guyana Police Force were called upon to respond to a suspected arson attempt late Wednesday at one of the buildings annexed to the Ministry of Communities and formerly under the control of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.The Guyana Chronicle understands that a small fire, along with a quantity off accelerant, were found on the chair of a locked room in the building located in Kingston, Georgetown.
The Fire Service was called in, and reportedly responded promptly shortly after 17:00hrs and managed to prevent any major destruction.
The Guyana Chronicle was told that only the internal walls of the room in the building where the fire was set was scorched.
