FORMER Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government (now the Ministry of Communities) Mr Colin Croal, as well as Former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs (now Indigenous People’s Affairs Ministry) Mr Nigel Dharamlall, have reportedly been sent home until further notice. The Chronicle newspaper was informed that both men have been “off the job” for a few days now but there has been no official word from the respective Ministries, Government Information

Services or the Ministers who recently took over the ministries at which the two worked.
While the details surrounding the sending home of the Permanent Secretaries are unclear, the two men have been reluctant to comment on the issues.
Contacted last evening, Colin Croal told this newspaper that he does wish to comment on the issue but was awaiting an official or public pronouncement on the decision from either the Minister or Ministry of Communities.
Croal has been serving as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government for a number of years after being transferred from the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs where he also served as a PS.
Nigel Dharamlall also served as a PS at the Ministry of Local Government for some time and was then transferred to the Amerindian Affairs Ministry where he and Croal swapped places.
Last evening, a source close to the Government declined to comment directly on the issue regarding the reported sending home of the Permanent Secretaries.
There were also reports that three staff members from the Ministry of the Presidency were sent packing. Again the source claimed that the information was not concrete to them and as such could not confirm definitively on the matter.
This newspaper was, however, told that the Government of President David Granger has no intentions on going on witch hunts but there are some things that need to be addressed in order for the smooth and uninterrupted execution of the Government’s business. (Leroy Smith)
