THE children of missing pensioner Esther Ramotar are pleading with the general public to assist them in locating their mother, who was last seen on April 1 at her Lot 17 Vryheid Village, West Canje home in East Berbice. Her youngest daughter, Stay Davidson, who lives in the United Kingdom, returned to Guyana on Saturday, May 23, after her Facebook page became flooded with reports that her mother had not been seen by neighbours.

Several telephone calls were also made to Ramotar’s relatives in Suriname, as was also done to relatives in Black Bush Polder; various parts of Demerara, including Soesdyke; and in other areas in Berbice, but none of those relatives has seen her.

However, a pair of the missing woman’s dentures have been discovered, and that development has left the children believing that something may have gone horribly wrong with their mother, who had lived with her two grandchildren — Anthony Mohamed, called Terry, and Jerry Hawker, both unemployed.

Anthony said he was in the bush (hinterland) while Jerry said the woman had left for Black Bush Polder, on the Corentyne.

Neighbours say the grandchildren would bully and shake the woman to have their own way. They are currently remanded at the New Amsterdam Prison, as they have jointly been charged with simple larceny, having taken the washing machine and television from the house and sold them.
“My sister had bought the items after she had built the house last year for our mother. Our mother was accompanied by a neighbour to collect her old age pension on April 1. She returned home, and was never seen since. We found her dentures under her bed in a cup. It was a usual practice for her to put her false teeth in a cup of water before retiring to bed. But she does not go anywhere without wearing it. Persons do not know she wore dentures. We did not find her identification card nor her pension book……,” a daughter disclosed.

Ms. Davidson said checks were also made to the geriatric homes in the region, and another visit was made to the New Amsterdam Post Office, but a representative said the month of May pension was not cashed at that location.
Ms Ramotar’s daughters are seeking the public’s involvement in finding their mother. Anyone having information that could lead to locating the woman is very kindly asked to call Stay Davidson on telephone number 662-6315, or 663-3691.
