THE Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) expects a very competitive tournament when it stages its ‘C’ and ‘B’ Class Open, Senior doubles Men and Women, Senior Mixed Doubles, Master Open 50 years to 55 years, 56 years to 60 years and 60 years and at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Sunday and Tuesday May 26 from noon and 10:00 hrs respectively.
According to a release, the categories to be played have been absent from table tennis tournaments for a very long time.
The tournament will be open to any player affiliated to the GTTA as well as to new players interested in participating in the tournament.
Further, registration for the tournament –which will run until May 26 – will close on May 24, the morning of the tournament.
Meanwhile, with the tournament being conducted under the rules of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) a technical meeting will be held on the day of the tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The Master’s Open will commence at 12:30 hrs, while the Seniors’ doubles for men and women will serve off at 15:00 hrs.
The Senior mix doubles gets underway from 15:00 hrs.
On May 26, the `C’ and `B’ Class open events will start at 10:00 hrs and 12:00 hrs respectively.
