JAMAL CORT hit 86 (6×4, 5×6) and Troy Mathieson 66 (6×6, 3×4) to spearhead their team Courtland All Stars to 316 for 7 in 30 overs against Number 7, in their latest match of this year’s Berbice Cricket Board/New Building Society second division 40-over cricket competition.Their effort is so far the best performance in the competition, while their opening fast bowler Keon Sinclair took 4 for 15, to bowl out Number 7 for 116, to see his team to a massive 200-run victory – the widest margin of victory so far.

Seventy-year-old off-spinner Zamin Hamid who has been participating in organised cricket in Berbice for 56 years, took the first hat-trick of this year’s competition, doing so for Fyrish Road.
Having already chalked up a five-wicket haul from an earlier round match, Hamid who also captains the team, waited until his son Riaz Ahmad Hamid inexplicably brought him into the attack at the start of the 25th over with Chesney 144 for 7.
He picked up a wicket with the last ball of that over, watched as two runs were scored off the next over which was bowled by Hassan Hussain, before he struck with his first two balls to complete his hat-trick and finish with the figures of 1.2-1-0-3, as Chesney were dismissed for 146.
Sad to say, the elder Hamid’s efforts were all in vain, as Chesney routed Fyrish Road for 106 in 24.5 overs, to complete a 40-run victory.
With Isaac Kamulladdin hitting 55 (6×4, 4×6), Cheskoy Riders posted a daunting 267 for 9 in 25 overs against Kendall’s Union ‘B’ who in response saw their number three batsman Yougraj Totaram blast 10 fours and one six in his 51.
But with the other batsmen contributing scores of 8, 3, 1, 1 and six zeroes, Kendall’s Union ‘B’ ended on 80 all out in 16 overs, with extras being their second top scorer with 16 as Cheskoy pacer Levi Thomas took 4 for 13.
Other batsmen scoring half-centuries were Nick Ramsaroop of Blairmont Community Centre, Kevon Clarke of Scottsburg United and Totaram Persaud of Number 68 Turn Team, while there were three five-wicket hauls coming from Shabeer Baksh, Vidal La Fleur and Steffon Adams.
