One dead, two injured in confrontation over grass fire

THE police yesterday reported that a probe is under way following the death of Patrick Boodie, 38, of Levi Dam, Angoys’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, which occurred around 17:20 hrs on April 15, 2015, at Angoy’s Avenue.Calvin Charles, 44, the brother of Patrick Boodie, was involved in an argument with a man over a grass fire that had spread from Calvin Charles’s land to the neighbouring premises.

However, the argument escalated into a confrontation among the man and his brother, who were armed with a cutlass and a handgun, and Calvin Charles and Patrick Boodie.

Calvin Charles was chopped to his head and shoulder, while Patrick Boodie was shot several times to his body and succumbed to his injuries.

Calvin Charles has been admitted to hospital.

Another man, Jason Nicholson, 28, of Levi Dam who was in the vicinity, was shot and injured to his right hand and has also been admitted to hospital.

The two suspects have not yet been arrested .
