A TRADITIONAL ceremonial parade will be held outside the Supreme Court, South Road, Georgetown this morning to mark the opening of the April Criminal Session in Demerara.Sixty ranks of the Tactical Services Unit which will accompany the parade will provide a Guard of Honour that will be inspected by one of the judges.
That judge will also take the salute during a march-past of the parade.
C J grants 11 petitioners bail amounting to $3.9M
ACTING Chief Justice, Mr. Ian Chang has granted 11 petitioners bail amounting to $3,995,000, pending the hearing of their cases.
The offences, offenders and the amount of bail are:
Possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking: Mabi Jon Pimental De Souza – $250,000; Jessica Messias Pereria – $250, 000; Marcio Leandra Magelhes – $750,000; Kathlene Trotman – $225, 000; Matthew Rodrigues De Carvalho – $300,000; and Terry De Freitas $1, 200,000;
Trafficking in persons: Sheldon Brown – $300,000;
Simple larceny, threatening behaviour, assault: Jason Burnette – $80,000; Errial Adams Greene – $600,000;
Assault causing actual bodily harm: Sherwin Pratt – $40,000.
