A THIRTY-seven-year-old robbery accused was remanded to prison by Magistrate Annett Singh when he appeared yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, charged with robbery under arms. Kwame Bruce of 65 Cross Street, Werk-en-Rust denied that on March 17 at Camp Street, being armed with a cutlass, he robbed Walter Drake of a quantity of confectionery valued $40,000.
The defendant told the court that he washes cars and buses at the Linden Bus Park for a living.
Police prosecutor Adonni Innis objected to bail on grounds of the nature and gravity of the offence, stating that the defendant is a vagrant with no fixed place of abode and that he gave a false address to the court.
Bail was refused and the matter stands adjourned until April 2.
