Salvage and Create – DIYs beauty and fashion tips with Raveena Mangal

“Many are the stars I see, but in my eye no star like thee.” Valentine’s Day is soon approaching and we all want to look ravishing (when we collect our chocolates and roses of course) from our special date for Valentine’s Day or even if we are just going out with friends. Follow these hair and makeup tips to look your best.

1. Curly hair, whether worn up or down, offer a very romantic look that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day. If your hair isn’t naturally curly, create curls all over your head with a small barrelled curling iron held vertically. After you have finished simply run your fingers through your hair (don’t brush) to create pretty, loose curls.
OR, try a curly hair DIY by simply twisting your hair. Part damp hair into as many sections you want, wrap hair around your finger all the way to your scalp and secure with a bobby pin, let air dry or blow dry then take the pins out and comb with finger.
2. Perfect your pout, get kissable lips by first sloughing away dead skin by gently rubbing a washcloth across your lips or gently brushing with your toothbrush. Why not make a statement with bold red lips? Matte is best, use a lip liner for perfection and blot with a tissue or paper to reduce smudge.
3. Maximise your lashes by trying some fake lashes for extra flirt.
OR make the most of your mascara by first curling your lashes Start by curling your lashes, then apply mascara by wiggling the wand back and forth at the roots to deposit as much of it as possible before pulling the wand straight up. To make lashes look long and separated, apply three coats of mascara—but comb through the mascara while it’s still wet with a clean, dry spooley brush.
Bonus! Don’t have a lash curler? No worries! Use a small spoon (teaspoon) that you’ve run under warm water, and then hold the spoon against your eyelid. Position it horizontally and rest it gently against your lid. You want the bottom of the spoon to be against your eyelid and eyelashes, with the bowl of the spoon facing out.
4. Do a mani and pedi, treat yourself to a one at a spa or DIY. Your nails don’t have to be super long to look good, just make sure they are neat and trimmed. Red or pink polish are perfect for Valentine’s Day, but don’t be afraid to experiment with other shades.
Bonus! Break or make some hearts with this simple nail art: 1. After you’ve filed your nails into an almond shape, pushed back your cuticles and applied a basecoat, create your heart by painting a small diagonal oval from the left side of your nail almost to the right side. 2. Create the other half of the heart by making the same oval shape, starting from the right side of the nail to almost the left side, completing the heart then, apply a clear top coat and you’re done!
