Hope our leaders rise to the occasion

MY deepest sympathy goes out to Speaker, Mr. Raphael Trotman. When he opted for this job, he did not expect that Guyana’s nasty politics would have impinged on his credibility, his family life and his reputation; but all is not lost when prayers always works wonders.

With little experience in the Speaker’s job, he has been saddled with tremendous responsibilities unprecedented in Guyana’s history. So far, he seems to be holding up well. Please remember in your hands lies the security, peace and well-being of a tortured nation with a fragile democracy. Outsiders in our midst are motivated and care eternally for
their long term interests. Who looks out and safeguards ours are not in
doubt.
Best wishes to the President, Opposition leaders and yourself in your talks, with strong convictions that we must devolve into a Federal Republic for racial equality to best facilitate ethnic security, so all his decisions in the next few months will be critical. So far, all sides are playing by the democratic rules adumbrated in our country’s constitution. Let us keep it this way to remain a single country. We have too much in common which cannot be destroyed.
