Cop shot in toe at Lethem nightspot –.32 pistol seized

AN officer of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) was shot and injured when he intervened during an altercation among a group of men on Saturday morning at Tabatinga, Lethem.

Police said the incident occurred at a nightspot at Tabatinga, Lethem, at about 03:15 hours on October 25, 2014, and which resulted in Assistant Superintendent of Police Deolall Rooplall being shot and injured to one of the toes of his left foot.

Investigations so far have revealed that the police officer intervened in an altercation among a group of men when shots were discharged and he was struck to his foot. He was treated at the Lethem Hospital and sent away.

A man attached to a private security service has been arrested and a .32 pistol seized as the investigations continue.
