Felix should look himself in mirror–Rohee

–denies attacking GECOM CEO personally

PEOPLE’S Progressive Party (PPP) General Secretary, Clement Rohee last Monday told reporters that so far as “blunders” are concerned, A Partnership for National Unity’s (APNU) Shadow Home Affairs Minister, Winston Felix ought to check himself in a mirror. Former Commissioner of Police and APNU Member of Parliament, Felix had just recently described Rohee as a “blunderer” at a party press conference.
At the PPP’s weekly press conference at Freedom House Headquarters, Rohee said: “Winston Felix will be the last man on earth for me to pay attention to. He lately came into politics. There is nothing Felix can teach me about politics. I’ve been in it too long. I’ve suffered in politics; I’ve grown up in politics.
“I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at anything that Felix says. I think he should look himself in the mirror when he is talking about blunders.”
Meanwhile, at the previous press briefing, Rohee had said Felix was “up to his usual mischief” in accusing the PPP of attacking Chief Elections Officer, Keith Lowenfield. In fact, Felix is trying to pitch the PPP against Lowenfield, Rohee had commented.
Felix has accused the PPP of attacking Lowenfield by raising repeated concerns about the voters’ list and the management of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).
“Mr. Felix is the man who was responsible for the death of so many policemen under his watch. He was responsible for so many things that took place under his watch and what kind of moral authority does Mr. Felix have to come out and make a statement of this nature? He is up to his usual mischief,” Rohee said.
He pointed out that the PPP welcomes Lowenfield’s assumption to office and has no interest in attacking anyone personally at GECOM. “We attack issues, not personalities. Our position is very clear and very principled. If we have a problem with any aspect of the elections preparations, list or otherwise, we would make our views known publicly. We will send our views written to GECOM.
“We have nothing to hide. We are not doing anything surreptitiously. We have no interest in rigging elections. We have fought against all those things and therefore our position is a principled one,” Rohee remarked.
