PLAINTIFF Chandroutie Ramnauth of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, whose crashed Nissan Dualis motor vehicle was insured with the Guyana and Trinidad Mutual Fire Insurance Company Limited for $6,000, 000.00, has had her accident claim settled.Earlier, her lawyer, Mr. Charles S. Ramson had written the company requesting a sizeable offer, but the company did not go higher than $3,320,000. which the plaintiff considered unacceptable.
The plaintiff contended that the defendant breached the contract of insurance by refusing and or neglecting to pay the plaintiff the entire value of the sum insured, less the deductable.
While the claim which was filed in the Supreme Court Registry on the 27th day of May, 2014, with a copy in the Registry, waiting to be decided by the Court, counsel for the plaintiff again approached the company.
In a letter from the Claims Supervisor, Mr. Travis Peters to Mr. Charles S. Ramson, dated September 2, 2014, the good news read:
“We refer to the above- mentioned matter and letter signed by Ramona Singh, Fire Manager dated April 16, 2014.
“Please be advised that we have since settled this matter in an amount of $5 820,000. being full and final settlement for constructive total loss to PRR 2040 on July 22, 2014 payable to Chandroutie Ramnauth.”

Received from the Guyana and Trinidad Fire Insurance Company Limited the sum of $5,820,000 in full and final settlement of claim for constructive total loss to PRR 2040 under policy numbered N214216 as a result of an accident which occurred on 2013-11-30 at Adventure Public Road, Essequibo and covered by the said policy.
I, Chandroutie Ramnauth hereby discharge the Guyana and Trinidad Mutual Fire Insurance Company Limited of any and all claims, demands, actions, and causes of every description and expense already incurred or which may hereinafter be incurred by me as a result of the said loss.
