Upgrades well advanced as Opening Night draws nigh
–Ten countries confirm participation
GUYEXPO 2014 Public Relations Manager, Chevon Lim says that upgrades are underway, and designed to cater to the needs of all who will be attending the event, with several changes to the Tourism Village, Kids Zone and the new addition of a Media Centre.
GuyExpo 2014 is slated for October 2-5 at the National Exhibition Centre, Sophia.
Lim announced that 80% of the booths at the Sophia Exhibition site are already booked, which she said is evidence of the tremendous interest the event is generating. The PR Manager said, “This year, a big focus remains on attracting overseas buyers; we are not encouraging our business to only be transactional. For this reason we have a team working along with the GuyExpo Committee, working inside and outside of Guyana. We can confirm participation from ten countries. They will not only be here as exhibitors but as buyers because we want to create the linkages here.”
The PR Manager noted that as Guyana’s premier trade fair and investment show looms closer, construction work is underway to ensure that the expectations of exhibitors and participants are met, in keeping with the high standards expected of the event. She also explained that this year the designs will be in keeping strictly with the theme.
“The aim is for everyone to understand the design concept for GuyExpo 2014. A floral layout ‘Guyana Blooming’ was conceptualised to represent Guyana’s blooming industry sectors responsible for the economic transformation of our flourishing country,” she said.
Patrons will be enthralled by the ‘Historical Walk’ at the entrance to the site. According to Lim, “this represents the new paths Guyana continues to blaze while opening up new frontiers of development from the year 1980-2014. Photographs will be placed along this walkway portraying this vigorous development throughout recent years.”
ADEQUATE PARKING
Adequate parking for an event of this magnitude has always posed a problem and as part of the strategy to ensure the successful staging of this event, Lim emphasised that this issue has also been addressed.
“We are anticipating over 100,000 persons over the four days of this event and we want to ensure that we are prepared to make this an event that they are sure to remember and enjoy,” she said. Lim also explained that they have Pavilion Managers to manage the flow of patrons to avoid congestion. “We have listened to our exhibitors and our consumers and we are catering to their needs,” she declared.
Spectators can also look forward to wholesome entertainment, thorough steel pan music, fashion displays, talent showcases, kids’ entertainment and a mouth-watering spread of creole and international cuisine at the food courts.
