MINISTER Jennifer Webster, of the Human Services and Social Security (HSSS) Ministry, confirmed yesterday that works are ongoing to facilitate relocation of several departments of the HSSS Ministry to the unoccupied Lamaha Street building which formerly housed the Secretariat of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA).“The contractors are working through the weekend on minor things, so that, hopefully by the end of next week, we will move over,” she said.

She also disclosed that the new building will house the Minister’s Secretariat, the Permanent Secretary’s Secretariat, the Administration and Human Resources departments, the Women’s Affairs Bureau (WAB), the Probation and Social Services departments, the Difficult Circumstances Unit, The Legal Advisor’s Office, the Management and Information Systems (MIS) department and the Accounting Unit.

The HSSS Ministry was scheduled to occupy the abandoned GRA building since Monday, September 15, but this action was delayed by the non-completion of minor works.
