Eccles teen refused bail on break and enter and larceny charge

AN 18-year-old Eccles resident who was slapped with a break and enter and larceny charge was refused bail yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Unemployed Jermaine Josiah of Lot 127 CC Eccles Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Ann McLennan. He will make his next court appearance on October 13.
According to details of the allegation, on July 15 at Green Field, Providence, East Bank Demerara, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Nicholas Marks and stole therein a quantity of items which include one Samsung laptop computer, one knife, one backpack, a quantity of gold jewellery and one bottle of vodka and one bottle of whisky.
Along with those items, it is alleged that the man who was unrepresented also stole one gold necklace, property of Shireen Bissoon, all items together valued $407,000.
Assistant Superintendant of Police Deneshwer Maindranaught opposed bail for the teenager on the grounds that there are other investigations being carried out against him.
