THE Church’s Chicken Food Court to be located at the Turkeyen campus of the University of Guyana is in its sixth month of construction, having exceeded its February 2014 construction deadline by at least four months.

The UG news release (Splash.gy) says it has been six months and counting since rehabilitation of the UG Sport Club was undertaken to accommodate the fast food outlet that will offer students the option of a variety of delicacies. No reason for this delay has been proffered, according to the source.

Church’s Chicken franchise holder, Camex Restaurant Inc., commenced working on erecting this outlet since last year December, and yet construction is far from completion. Other franchises, such as Mario’s Pizza, Quiznos and the recent Juici Patties, are said to have participated in this initiative. The intention has been to recruit the current staff at the UG Sports Club to work at the new fast food outlet when the new semester would have opened.

The release also expounded that Camex Restaurant Inc. has been doing these related setups countrywide, thus manpower had to be diverted. CEO of Camex, Terrance Campbell, told the staff writer of the news release that the franchise has been “re-looking at the floor plan for the UG Food Court,” given that accommodating four kitchens in one building would be a hassle with limited space.
