COMPETITION in the inaugural Cult/East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Under-17 League is set to kick off today at the Grove Playfield with double- header action from 14:00hrs.
Herstelling and Mocha Champs have been given the opportunity to set a positive tone for the rest of the tournament which has attracted eight clubs.
Herstelling have been showing encouraging improvement ever since becoming a member of the EBFA over one year ago and will be seeking to continue their upward climb.
Herstelling will start this game with a slight advantage over Mocha Champs, given the fact that Mocha did not field a team in the recently concluded Trophy Stall Under-15 tournament in which Herstelling competed.
Today’s feature game brings together Timehri Panthers and Agricola Red Triangle. Both teams, as well as Mocha Champs, will be playing their first junior game for the season.
While the exploits of both teams are well documented at the senior level, they will now have the chance to chart a new course in the junior realms.
Eight teams – Kuru Kuru Warriors, Timehri Panthers, Grove Hi-Tech, Diamond United, Herstelling United, Mocha Champs, Agricola Red Triangle and Soesdyke Falcons – will play the round-robin formatted tournament and the top four teams will advance to the knockout stage to vie for top prizes and bragging rights.
Officials of sponsor Continental Group of Companies are expected to witness this afternoon’s action.
