Police hunt suspect in Haslington murder

THE police have issued a wanted bulletin for Errol Khan, known as Venood Maraj,  in connection with their investigations into the brutal murder of Chetram Bharrat on May 2, 2014, at Haslington New Scheme, East Coast Demerara.

According to a police release, anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Errol Khan, known as Venood Maraj, is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-2227, 229-2701 to 2703, 229-2557, 911 or the nearest police station.

All information will be treated with strict confidence, the police assured.

Particulars of the Wanted Man, as released by the Police, state his date of birth as 1976-07-06; he is East Indian in ethnicity, thin/slim in built, brown in complexion and his last known address is Lot 72 Blossom Scheme, Enmore, East Coast Demerara.

According to reports, Chetram Bharrat, 40, was brutally chopped to death while his wife Lomattie Ramdat, 36, received several chops and she was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) in a critical condition.

The incident occurred when two men armed with cutlasses entered Bharrat’s house through a window and demanded cash and jewelry.
After their demands were not met, the bandits then chopped Bharrat to death and severely beat his wife.
