FORTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Gavin Gordon, of Golden Fleece, West Coast Berbice, who was struck by a ‘Hummer’ motor vehicle last Phagwah Day, remains warded at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in a serious condition.

The farmer, a father of seven is suffering from injuries to his neck and both fractured legs, as well as abrasions on his chest.
Now restricted to a hospital bed, he is unable to provide for his wife, Maureen, and four school age children.
Meanwhile, the wife is compelled to travel from West Coast Berbice to the city on a daily basis to attend to her husband, since he is unable to do anything for himself.
She said that expense amounts to some $9,000 weekly.
The police have not yet visited the injured man in hospital to take a statement from him, so that the latter can determine what course of action should be taken against the motorist involved, reportedly a rice farmer.
Gordon remembers that he was travelling from the neighbouring village, of Paradise, when the vehicle struck him, breaking his right arm and both legs.
