BUDGET Day 2014 is one that 62-year-old Franklin Primo, of Lot 84 Victoria Road, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, will always remember. It was last Monday, that Primo, a bus conductor, while attempting to fix his television antenna, suffered a fall from his roof, landing on the concrete 20 feet below.
He suffered severe injuries, including a fractured right shoulder, burst head, a dislocated right hip and broken bones.
His children who were at home, on hearing the commotion, rushed to enquire only to find their father lying motionless and writhing in pain on the ground.
They quickly summoned a motor car and rushed him to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
He is now on a list waiting for surgery to fix a leg but is complaining about pains he suffers and prays they do not have an effect on his heart.
Primo related, from his hospital bed, that it was around 15:30 hrs on Monday he was watching the Budget presentation on television, but the reception was not too good. So he decided to climb to the roof and fix the antenna. That being done, he was about to descend when he slipped and fell.
Primo is now eagerly awaiting the day when he could undergo corrective operation.
