SIXTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Balram Ramkhalawan of Belvedere Village, Corentyne, was sentenced to two years imprisonment after he confessed to assaulting his Octogenarian mother Rogina Ramkhalawan, at their home on December 12, last.
Police Sergeant Phillip Sherriff, prosecuting, said the defendant returned home in a drunken stupor and was rebuked by his aging mother.
However, he became annoyed and an argument ensued between the duo, resulting in him dragging her by the long braids out of the hammock , whilst dangling his penis before her face.
The act of the woman’s offspring caused her much alarm and distress, resulting in her going to Albion Police Station where the matter was reported.
In addition to a charge of assault, Ramkhalawan faces an additional charge of exposure of genitals. He has since denied the charge before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Albion Court.
He was denied bail and is expected to return to Court on February 25.
