JUSTICES Diana Insanally and James Bovell-Drakes will, today, sum up the evidence in two different murder cases at the Demerara Assizes. The accused involved on the unusual occasion are Chanderdan Indar and Khemra Bhoodoo called ‘Shamy’.The separate occurrences are reminiscent of many years ago when two and three judges used to deliver summations at the Assizes the same day. Justice Insanally is presiding at the trial of Indar, indicted for the unlawful killing of Ragendra Singh, who was manually strangled on May 31, 2010. State Prosecutrix, Dhanika Singh, who is appearing opposite defence counsel, George Thomas, has based her case on circumstantial evidence. Meanwhile, Boodhoo is in the dock in front of Justice Bovell-Drakes on an indictment that he murdered Litendra Roopnarine called ‘Boyo’ on July 5, 2005. Prosecuting in that case is state counsel, Natasha Backer and defence counsel, is Keavon Bess.
