THIRTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD pastry vendor, Devina Batson, of Lot 163 Charlotte Street, Bourda, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman Tuesday , on charges of assault and using abusive language. 
The defendant pleaded not guilty to both offences which alleged that, on Thursday, October 17, at her address, she unlawfully assaulted Vanessa Carter and abused her so that a breach of the peace may be occasioned.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, did not object to bail, pointing out that the assault was several slaps to the virtual complainant’s face.
However, surety was set at $90,000 and the mother of two has to be back in court on October 30.
