Woman killed in Hampton Court accident

A FORTY-two-year-old woman who was struck down by a Canter truck after she allegedly attempted to cross the Hampton Court Public Road on the Essequibo Coast around 20:00 hrs Wednesday night was pronounced dead on arrival at the Suddie Hospital.Reports from residents said the woman, Nalini Sasenarine, also called ‘Peppy’, who is an everyday ‘drinker’, was walking along the well-lit road when she suddenly ran across and ended up in the path of a Canter truck that was heading to Walton Hall Village in a northern direction.

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle  tried to save the woman but struck her as she reportedly made a sudden move to cross the road. The loud impact caused scores of residents to rush from their homes to the scene.
The badly injured woman who was lying unconscious on the public road was promptly picked up by the driver of the Canter truck and other public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Suddie Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
The driver is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
