The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has established an Integrity and Discipline Commission (I&DC) aimed at ensuring that its members serving in public offices at all levels maintain the highest standards of integrity in performing their duties.

This was announced by PPP General Secretary, Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee, during yesterday’s PPP media briefing at Freedom House on Robb Street, Georgetown.
The minister explained that the commission is mandated to investigate allegations levelled against party members in relation to theft, bribery and forgery; and misconduct by party members who engage in activities “unbecoming of a good member”, including defamation and sexual harassment or misconduct.
Rohee said that establishment of the (I&DC) commission comes out of the last PPP congress, held in August this year, and the deliberations of the new central committee. He pointed out that it was then affirmed that additional steps be taken to establish a mechanism to address allegations of misconduct, thereby reinforcing party discipline at all levels.
He advised that the commission is made up of “long-standing executive party members” who will report to the executive committee on their findings.
While he could not disclose all the names of the I&DC members, the minister revealed there are approximately five persons on the commission who are all leading members of the hierarchy of the PPP, including former Local Government Minister, Clinton Collymore and Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon.
Asked to name the chairman and other members of the commission, Rohee said those names would be released at an appropriate time. He said, “We will let you know all of that subsequently”.
Rohee said establishment of the Integrity and Discipline Commission is further enhancement of the Anti-Corruption Committee established some years ago by the PPP.
