Orpheus Johnson trial for murder of Brandon Charles continues Monday

ON Monday morning at 09.30hrs, Justice James Bovell-Drakes will continue taking evidence in the Orpheus Johnson murder trial, wherein the accused is indicted with having murdered Brandon Charles between August 7th and 8th 2009 at Caneville Village, East Bank, Demerara.

Represented by Attorney-at-Law Miss Latchmie Rahamat, Johnson has pleaded not guilty to the offence. Miss Dhanika Singh, prosecuting, has set out to prove that the accused committed the crime in circumstances where he cannot plead accident or self-defence.

Evidence has already been led to show that the accused has been indicted for killing Brandon Charles.

According to one witness, a bullet was removed from the body of the deceased by the doctor who performed the post-mortem, and was given to him for examination by the analyst. That bullet, witness said, was given him by the doctor, but he cannot tell from which part of the body that bullet was removed, and now he cannot say where the bullet is, although he had lodged same at the station.
