Meet the Digicel Guyana ambassadors –who blaze a trail in the entertainment world

THREE locals continue to make headlines as their music careers climb new heights and they hope to go even higher!

altThey do not need introductions, but nevertheless I will list their names: Artiste Michelle ‘Big Red’ King; Selector Dread (Seen Up), whose name is Megus Mc Farlance; and the well-known radio personality, Casual Armstrong.
Michelle King told the Guyana Chronicle that she recently returned to Guyana from her United Kingdom tour, which was eminently successful, and she is expected to return there shortly. This spritely artiste, known for her sensuous dance style and her bubbly personality, says she is a ‘hot and fluffy’ mother of two, and has been singing since age seven. Her career has indeed blossomed over the years!alt
King added that, so far, she is pleased at her achievements; and despite the hardships, she made it locally, and also to some extent internationally, where her music is recognised because of her talent and her drive to succeed.
She is also an active member of the non-governmental organisation Women Across Differences, and is happy to be a part of that organization, in which she can share her experience as a woman with the younger folks of today, in order to help them to make something of themselves.
King said that she successfully produced and sang many songs, but her latest include “Take me for a ride” and “Gimme good love”.
She is associated with Vision Sounds Studio, and is very optimistic that her career will propel her firmly into the international limelight.

altMegus Mc Farlance, called Dread (Seen Up), is a very enterprising and pleasant personality, who takes pride in his job. He is an accomplished Selector of music, and a lover of all types of music. Since his boyhood days, he had wanted to be a Selector; and since winning the Slingerz Family DJ Competition in 2009, he has not looked back!
He has been a professional Selector for the past four years, and ventured into radio, which he is enjoying immensely. He selects music alongside radio personality Casual Armstrong.
Mc Farlance is a positive person who abhors negativity, but is fun-loving. And do not be fooled by his Rastafarian outlook; he is down-to-earth and quite inspirational.
Casual Armstrong, called “DJ Casual”, is not ‘standoffish’ as some mistakenly think. In fact, he is a ‘regular’ person who is passionate about his work as a radio personality. He is simply happy to meet someone who thinks he is fascinating and reserved, until that person actually meets him. All fears of him being a snob simply evaporate!
Casual said he was destined to be a radio personality, and it is what he enjoys most. He does not regret coming home to Guyana four and a half years ago to contribute to the local culture and society.
His radio career started when he was just 14 years old; and now, at 33 years old, he is quite pleased with the exposure, because he did not want to become a ‘superstar’ or an ‘artiste’, but is satisfied that he has so many fans and is able to deliver meaningful exchanges via the radio.
He said, “My son makes me happy, and when I am with him, I like that.”
This well-known radio personality currently hosts the ‘Digicel Morning Vibes’, which starts at 06:00 hours and concludes at 09:00 hours every day on the radio.
Casual, King and Mc Farlance are all Digicel Guyana ambassadors, and partake in many social events. They have contributed positively to society in one way or the other.
