In Region 3… : Faerber reports 2013 works programme 35 percent complete

APPROXIMATELY 35 percent of the Region 3 (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) 2013 Work programme has already been completed, the Chairman, Mr. Julius Faerber reported yesterday. In an interview with the Guyana Chronicle, he said, so far, adequate financing is available to commence the projects which were advertised in the media.
Faerber explained that the programme targets the key developmental elements of the communities, such as health, education, agriculture, drainage and irrigation (D&I), maintenance of buildings and roads, among other infrastructure.
He said a lot of focus and effort will go towards ensuring that the undertakings are properly executed.
Faerber said they are aimed at enhancing the education sector of the region, including maintaining school buildings, extending some and supplying adequate furniture to those in need.
He stated, further, that D&I in his region is being closely monitored and several different jobs were advertised to assist in bettering the system.
He said all the works being done by the Government are in keeping with its mandate to improve and make the lives of Guyanese better and it would try to do as much as possible to benefit citizens more.
Faerber encouraged persons who have complaints regarding the functioning of their communities to raise them with their respective Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) or the RDC.
