A TWENTY-YEAR-OLD vendor was granted $5,000 bail yesterday, on a charge of being in possession an offensive weapon.

Before Magistrate Judy Latchman, Godfrey Gittens, of Lot 191 Middle Road, La Penitence, pleaded not guilty to the allegation that, on Saturday, July 20, on Longden Street, also in Georgetown, he had a knife.
Attorney-at-law, Mr. George Thomas, who represented the defendant, informed the court that the latter sells cheese, among other things, at Stabroek Market.
Gittens has to make his next appearance on July 31.
