Kross Kolor to launch ‘Music Network’ September

ON the heels of its concept introduction held at the Umana Yana on Thursday, June 27, and attended by 345 music industry players, Kross Kolor Records is set to officially launch the Guyana Music Network in September.

altThe following weeks will see outreach teams holding concept introduction events in Linden, Essequibo and Bartica, with the aim of not only selling the concept to stakeholders, but adding to the now growing number of persons registering to be part of the network.
The network is designed to: improve local knowledge of the business of music; improve local entrepreneurial skills; elevate promotion of self and skills; standardize recorded material from studio to studio; have a more prominent presence on the World Wide Web; have a united approach to music industry development; encourage the exchange of services; maximise earning power from skills, equipment and projects; gather information for music industry database; reduce cost of production to members, where possible; create a base market of buyers for products produced by musicians and producers; and build partnerships with other entities.
The Guyana Music Network is an entity that would promote sustainable development of the music industry by first empowering its members through economic, educational and social activities, supported by the Network itself, built on the concept of “Haan wash haan mek han clean”. The concept was birthed out of the lack of a strategic development plan coupled with an extremely slow rate of growth.
The types of membership are: Full membership, opened to musicians, producers, songwriters, dub poets, studio owners, music teachers, schools, steel bands, and bands. Associate membership is for DJs, VJ’s, fashion designers, promoters, journalists, radio stations and television stations; and the final category, friends of the network, include small businesses, Corporate Guyana and fans. Each category comes with its own benefits.
Persons can register online at gmn.krosskolor.com. Additional information can also be found, and questions asked via facebook.com/guyanamusicnetwork, or email guyanamusic@gmail.com
Those who have already registered are being encouraged to get at least three other persons to register, since the success of the network will depend on its total membership.

The network team would like to thank all those who attended the launching, and extends a special and personal thank you to NCN, and HJTV/ 94.1 Boom FM, the print media, Jamz 592, and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
