Grieving mother appeals to drivers to be careful on the roads –in wake of dead daughter’s 21st birthday

THIRTEEN-year-old Trishanna Debidyal died on a pedestrian crossing at Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, on December 5th, 2005, after she had been hit by a speeding motor car driven by a driver who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

altHad she survived that accident, this St Rose’s High School student would have celebrated her 21st birthday yesterday.
Speaking with the Guyana Chronicle via telephone, Trishanna’s mother, Agnes Debidyal, noted that the pain of the loss of her daughter is still unbearable on this day as it was on the day that the tragedy happened.
She explained that “Trishanna was the most loving young lady that you can think of. She was pleasant, always a smiling, loving person. She loved to sing and dance, and there was never a dull moment whenever you were around her.”
Mrs Agnes Debidyal is therefore appealing to drivers to be careful and watch out for road users, especially children. She is asking drivers to keep their alcohol intake to a minimum, if they absolutely must drink, seeing that alcohol is responsible for a lot of accidents and deaths on the roads. She said she would never wish this horrible type of pain on any other family.
Trishanna Debidyal is survived by a still grieving mom, dad and two sisters.
Trishanna was reportedly negotiating a north/south pedestrian crossing on the Better Hope public road when a motor car proceeding east stopped to allow her to cross over, but the driver of GJJ 3006 overtook that car and struck the teen down.
A few days later, he was detained and placed before the courts to answer to the deadly traffic violation.
