Gentle ends visit to UK Fire Service

THE Ministry of Home Affairs disclosed, yesterday, that Chief Fire Officer, Marlon Gentle had visited the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service and Seven Park Regional Training Centre, in the United Kingdom (UK), from June 29 to July 8. The visit was at the invitation of the Chief Fire Officer of the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service and the purpose was for Gentle to engage in discussions and understand how the host operates, a release said.
The ministry said the talks centred, mainly, on the renaming of the Guyana Fire Service to the Guyana Fire and Rescue Service and included specalised training for GFS ranks in the area of firefighting and rescue operations, fire prevention (including community fire prevention relations), airport fire and rescue activities and fire investigations.
The release said the GFS has developed a good relationship with the two agencies in the UK and benefitted, immensely, from this partnership through the skills, expertise and training which was provided through Senior Training Officer, Kevin Adcock.
