Assault case involving Survival employees dismissed

DAVENAND Khublall, a delivery clerk of Survival Supermarket, had an unlawful assault charge against him dismissed yesterday.

He had pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which alleged that, at the Sheriff Street, Georgetown shop, he unlawfully assaulted the security guard, Allan Torrington.
But, when asked, by Magistrate Fabayo Azore, if he would like to go ahead with the case, the virtual complainant said he only wants the defendant to be warned since they both work at the same place.
He explained that the two of them had a heated conversation over a badly parked motor car that was blocking customers from entering and exiting the business place.
Torrington said he recognises that, were it not for the commotion, they could have continued their respective duties.
However, as the argument went on, the defendant pushed his hands in his face and that caused him to make a report.
