Greaves wins Malta Supreme Cycling Classic

ALANZO Greaves outdid the competition yesterday on the National Park Circuit as he won the Malta Supreme Cycling Classic feature 35-lap event in a time of one hour, 15 minutes and 33 seconds (1:15:33s).

Following Greaves were Jude Bentley, Warren McKay, Raynauth Jeffrey, Robin Persaud and Albert Philander who round out the top spots. The race had 40 starters.
Bentley, however, copped six of the eight prime prizes while the eventual victor bagged the other two.
The race got off to a pacy start with the first four laps being completed in just six minutes. That was where Bentley snatched the first prime and separated himself from the pack. He was pursued closely by Jeffrey, Pollydore, Greaves, Paul DeNobrega and Mario King
A little more than halfway through the race Greaves caught Bentley and upped the tempo, opening a five-second lead in the process.
As the race progressed the two extended the lead to over a minute but with less than five laps to go, it proved too much for anyone behind to catch up. Greaves eventually powered to the line to take the victory from Bentley.
Earlier in the day, Sherwin Sampson was the top finisher in the BMX Boys 6-9 years two-lap event while Alex Leung was second and Jeremiah Harrison third.
