New Amsterdam Multilateral maul School of Nations (NA) 12-0 : .. wins for Leonora and GITC

THE NEW Amsterdam Multilateral School (NAMS) demonstrated a high level of skills in the second round of the Region 6 leg of this year’s Digicel Schools Football Championship, by mauling School of the Nations (SOTN) – N/A, 12-0 on a damp and slippery Scott’s School ground in New Amsterdam yesterday. The Multilateral lads were on fire as soon as the first whistle blew, by keeping the SOTN custodian Jeremy Chow on his toes, with Shakeel Grant commencing the rout by netting the first of a hat-trick in the 11th minute, followed by Shaquan Spencer six minutes later.
The agile Jamal Butts, then joined the goal spree by scoring in the 20th minute; Godfrey Coward then booted one past Chow in the 32nd minute and Butts wasted little time by netting his second goal, one minute after Coward’s strike.
Skipper Akeem Bollers then looped one over the heads of the SOTN defenders and custodian from just outside the box to register goal number six for NAMS, while SOTN, did not help their own cause by inflicting three defence errors on themselves in the 37th, 43rd and 44th minutes, to hand NAMS a 9-0 lead at lemon time.
Upon resumption, SOTN fouled the NAMS striker and a penalty kick was awarded, wherein NAMS’ custodian Leon Loo, gracefully accepted the offer by netting past his counterpart in the 48th minute.
The game proceeded with NAMS attacking the SOTN goal regularly, until Grant returned to his free-scoring ways by scoring goals in the 68th and 86th minutes to send SOTN crashing out of the championships with their heads down.
At the Den Amstel ground, Gavin Graham netted a helmet-trick in the 34th, 56th, 58th and 86th minutes of play respectively, to power Leonora Secondary past Stewartville by a 4-1 margin, with Stephan Griffith pulling one back for Stewartville in the 60th minute.
At the Police Sports Club ground, Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) rebounded from a 3-2 deficit after the first half, to send Dolphin Secondary crashing out of the competition with a commanding 6-3 victory.
Jamal McPherson opened the scoring for GITC, when he found the back of the net in the 2nd minute, before strikes from Joshua Pereira (11th), Levar Baptiste (16th) and Toquan Clarke (26th) handed Dolphin a 3-1 lead.
Randy Layne found the back of the net for GITC in the 31st minute, to make it a one possession game for Dolphin, before McPherson completed his brace three minutes into the second half, to draw the scores level.
Not satisfied with the way the scoreline was being read, GITC, through a brace from Jamal Williams scored in the 61st and 84th minutes, followed by Colwyn Daniels’ 89th minute strike from inside his own half, sealed their team’s place in the next phase while relegating Dolphin to preparation mode for next year’s tournament.
