JULIAN Curt Edmonds recalled, for a mixed Demerara Assizes jury yesterday, the day when he found the motionless body of his father, tied up and gagged at his South Ruimveldt, Georgetown home.

The son was giving evidence for the Prosecution at the murder trial of accused Shawn Smith, who is indicted for the unlawful killing of Hector Fitzroy Marshall between January 18 and 19, 2009.
State Prosecutors Natasha Backer and Dhanika Singh are presenting their case through direct and circumstantial testimony.
In his evidence-in-chief, Edmonds said he was at work on July 19 when he received a telephone call.
As a result, he proceeded to his mother’s residence where he collected her and they then went where his father lived and saw a large crowd.
Rooms ransacked
The witness said he entered the house and saw books scattered all over the place and rooms ransacked, while investigating policemen were on the scene.
Witness said he went into the northwest bedroom and it was there he discovered the lifeless body of his father, with hands behind his back, feet also tied together and a piece of cloth around his neck.
Edmonds said one of the investigators gave him a small piece of paper or soft cardboard, on which he wrote his signature.
He said, on January 23, 2009, he was at the post mortem for which he identified the victim, whose remains were handed over to the relatives  for burial.
Under cross-examination by Defence Counsel Peter Hugh, Edmonds admitted seeing the Police in possession  of a small  gift box but could not recall  how it got from the ground to a table.
The trial is continuing.
