Dharmic Sabha’s new president receives congratulations from Region 6 Vice Chairman

RECENTLY elected President of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, Dr. Vindhya Vasini Persaud, was warmly congratulated on her ascension to office by members of the East Berbice praant of the sabha.

altRegion 6 Vice Chairman, Bhupaul Jhagroo, who served as Chairman of the East Berbice praant for 11 years, told the Guyana Chronicle he is confident that Dr. Vindhya Persaud would take the organisation forward.
“It was anticipated that Dr. Vindhya would have been elected, because she was well groomed by her father, the late Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud, who served as head of the Dharmic Sabha for many years, until his death,” Jhagroo said.

“In a sense, it’s just the person has changed; the policies and objectives of the organisation remain the same. With her at the helm, the Dharmic Sabha has a far way to go,” he posited.
Mr. Jhagroo stressed that there are capable individuals among the eight praants countrywide who can lead the Dharmic Sabha, but everyone is confident that Dr. Vindhya is best suited to head the organisation.
“She is a person of humility, and one who hails from a staunch Hindu background. She has demonstrated the ability to reach out to people in the wider society. She is capable of dealing with social issues, and her nomination is justifiable,” he declared.

ELECTED
Dr. Vindhya Vasini Persaud was unanimously elected at a special general meeting of the Dharmic Sabha, held at the Sanskritik Kendra in Prashad Nagar on Saturday. Then, it was also agreed that the Sabha’s Kendra would be renamed the ‘Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud Dharmic Sanskritik Kendra’.
