GOVERNMENT on Wednesday blasted Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) for “outrageous” increases in ticket prices According to the Tourism Minister Irfaan Ali the increases have been arbitrary. He noted too that CAL’s position in the Guyana market should have been looked at from a corporate responsibility perspective and not an opportunity to rake in profits as a result of the high demand here.
Ever since I began my travels in 1980 it’s nothing but harassment and hassle when traveling with the Trini airline.
The only time travel was most enjoyable was when there was a Guyana Airways or when there were chartered flights.
Guyanese were left to the mercy of Trinis in transit at their airport.
I wrote about this very thing a long time ago and on many occasions that it’s only a matter of time before CAL do what it is doing to Guyanese again.
When will this minister get it that CAL does not care for the welfare of Guyanese and it’s all about profits?
In the past whenever former President Jagdeo threatened to bring in other airlines CAL officials would run up to Guyana begging not to do what they are doing to Guyanese only to do it worse every time after.
Not only is the traveling Guyanese are at the mercy of CAL but also the Government of Guyana when it comes to tourism in Guyana.
CAL is intent on making travelling hell for Guyanese and visitors to Guyana.
Its time our government wake up and smell the CAL stench.
