Student allegedly caught hiding bullets in mouth remanded to prison

FRANE Mikhail Braithwaite of Lot 41 Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown was remanded to prison on a charge of unlawful possession of ammunition, yesterday, by Magistrate Fabayo Azore, after the 19-year-old had pleaded not guilty to the offence, which said that, on Friday June 7, at Cummings Street, Bourda, Georgetown, he had three live rounds of 9mm ammunition in his possession. Police Sergeant Tracymay Gittens, prosecuting, told the court that the defendant was found with the ammunition whereas he is not a lawful holder of a licence.
Braithwaite, a student of the Government Technical Institute, allegedly hid three 9 MM bullets in his mouth.

Attorney-at-law Mark Waldron, representing the accused, explained that Braithwaite is adamant he did not have the ammunition in his possession in a Ziploc bag in his mouth, as the police are claiming.

Magistrate Azore refused the defendant bail because his counsel did not provide any special reason for bail to be granted.

Braithwaite is scheduled to make another court appearance on June 26.
