WHAT is in effect a very serious matter is rearing its ugly head by way of rumour (and sometimes discussion by even lawyers) concerns the religious and sometimes political influences infiltrating the administration of justice in Guyana.
Our country has total religious tolerance and there is no small opportunity for several very influential persons to head or be members of one religious body or another. So far so good, but when these bodies use their members to dilute the purity of any system, the problem becomes acute.
We have enough mayhem from infiltration already in the financial life of our country; to have religious or other infiltration in our judicial system ought to be carefully monitored and nipped in the bud, no matter how high the offending functionaries may be.
