Police awaiting legal advice on two Sunday murders

POLICE are awaiting legal advice on the Orange Walk, Bourda, fatal shooting in which Shawn Nelson was killed on May 26. Crime Chief Seelall Persaud confirmed yesterday.

The 39-year-old man, of Joseph Pollydore Street, also in Georgetown, succumbed to a gunshot wound in his head.
He was walking on his way to work when he was shot by a man who disembarked a motorcar and fired at him.
Nelson was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he died.
The suspected shooter, identified in video footage from a surveillance camera at a nearby business place, turned himself in to Police and remains in custody.
A post mortem performed yesterday proved that Nelson’s caused of death was shock and haemorrhage due to gunshot injury.
The suspect, said to be a well-known member of the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), fled the murder scene and crashed the motor car he was driving into a utility pole.
Reports about the killing said, about 06:30 hrs on Sunday, Nelson, who was employed at Eagles Bar on Robb Street, was involved in an argument with a man in Orange Walk, when he was killed.
Meanwhile, the two women and a man are still in Police custody following the stabbing to death of ex-policeman Adrian Richmond at a dog fighting venue, on Sunday, too.
Persaud said they are also awaiting advice on that crime.
Police said Richmond, 31, of Atlantic Ville, was stabbed about 18:30 hrs at Industry Front Access Road, also on East Coast Demerara.
Investigations have, so far, revealed that he became involved in an argument with three men, over the results of a fight between dogs and he was wounded with an ice-pick.
He also died at the GPHC.
