Warriors earn rare IPL win against Knight Riders

ROCK-bottom Pune Warriors drew level on points with Delhi Daredevils with one game to play in the IPL after beating Kolkata Knight Riders by seven runs in Ranchi.

The Knight Riders put the Warriors in to bat and they made 170-4 in their 20 overs. Manish Pandey top-scored with 66 while Aaron Finch (48 not out) also put in a decent innings after fellow opener Robin Uthappa fell for 25.
Yuvraj Singh (30) also contributed to the final total.
Kolkata lost three early wickets – Manvinder Bisla (1), Jacques Kallis (1) and Gautam Gambhir (12) – to stand on 29-3, but a partnership of 98 between Ryan ten Doeschate (42) and Yusuf Pathan (72) recovered the innings.
Requiring 44 to win with four overs and one ball remaining – and just the three wickets down – they were in with a chance.
However, after ten Doeschate was run-out by Ali Murtaza, Manoj Tiwary faced just two balls as he fell for a duck and Pathan and Rajat Bhatia’s (10) efforts were not enough to challenge for the win – the former was dismissed for obstructing a fielder and the latter was run-out.
Incoming Debabrata Das (8) was able to hit one boundary in six deliveries as the Knight Riders fell seven runs short, finishing on 163-7, at the HEC International Cricket Stadium Complex. (Eurosport)
